Yeah, how smart is your phone?

TVA.org has a new mobile app that, supposedly, let's you view the upcoming dam generation schedule for tailwaters. Well, I can't figure it out. The screen is a mess and the way the releases are listed makes no sense. On top of it all, not all the dams are listed. Maybe it's just my phone? Maybe it's the fact that I'm betraying all that's holy and right about fishing... taking a phone. True, there's not a lot of service around on the local waterways. But, why can't I just go? Figure things out when I get there.

Hi James
I found your blog on the net today and been reading some of your posts on fishing the GSMP, and was wondering if you can tell me the best area to fish in the park? My wife and I will be coming to the mountains this June and we plan on fishing some of the streams in the park but have no idea where to fish. I am going to become one of your followers so I can keep up with your fishing expeditions in the park. Any info. would be appreciated Bill

Hi, Bill, thanks! As far as the park goes, if you're worth your grit, you can catch trout all along Little River Road, between Townsend and Elkmont. Fish here are skittish, but you'll see bigger browns in this area. If you're like me, you don't really want to see cars screaming by or put up with people taking your photo or stopping to ask questions, that means you have to take a walk. The best place for this above Elkmont campground (there are plenty others, but this is easy). Park at the Little River Trail head and hike on up. You can fish as soon as you like, but I wait at least three miles. After that you'll see few people and fewer anglers. If you're feeling really good, continue following the river. It keeps getting better!

good luck!
